My Daughters' Musings
This is part one of three. The original blog had no subtitles, and I added a few. You can see the original blog here.
This past week, my daughters visited us in Idaho for a week. They both still live in Florida. One had been here only a few days prior and the other had never been here. What they had to say was interesting and I thought it would be fun to share.
The Trip to Idaho
First of all, their trip from Florida to Idaho was tedious at best and they were officially traveling for over 11 hours! They had a three hour layover in Houston and their next plane didn’t go straight to Boise but instead dropped off and picked up passengers in Phoenix first before arriving 45 minutes late in Boise. Needless to say, they were exhausted by the time they arrived. As we left the airport and headed to the car, it began lightly snowing and my younger daughter squealed with delight.
Their first day in Idaho
Their first day here we took them up to Bogus Basin ski resort right outside of Boise in the Sawtooth Mountains in the Boise National Forest. To get there from Boise is easy; you go straight up on a windy two-lane road. My younger daughter loved the trip up the mountain as well as the snow and ice once we got there. My older daughter, on the other hand, complained about the road and elevation giving her vertigo and making her feel sick. Once we got there, the three kids (two of which are officially grown) played in the snow, took icicles off the roof of a building, and made and threw a few snowballs.
My younger daughter really enjoyed the entire experience and asked to return to some snowy area before leaving (which we couldn’t do, by the way), the older, while enjoying the snow, complained about the wind chill and other such things the entire time. As we were preparing to leave Bogus, it once again began to snow, quite hard, and snowed about half-way down the mountain.
Reflections at Dinner
One comment that my girls both made while eating in Chuck-A-Rama (a restaurant to feature in a future blog, I’m sure) is that pretty much all of the kids and young adults near their age didn’t look “ghetto”. They commented that almost all of younger people we passed knew how to keep their pants up and they seemed intelligent and knew how to speak correctly. I personally didn’t think of it as a big deal, but it seemed to really impress both of my daughters.
To be continued……
